Discipline of Occupational and Environmental Health

Mr Sibongiseni Ngema is responsible for the overall administration of academic programmes, research and finance in the Discipline. He joined the Discipline in Deecember 2011 after having worked in the Undergraduate Administration Office at the Nelson R mandela School of Medicine.

Ms Lungi Zulu is responsible for administration of all matters related to research, projects and clinical training in the Department. Lungi has held various administrative positions with, inter alia, KZN Department of Economic Development and the University of KwaZulu-Natal.   

Qualifications: BSc (Natal),  BSc (hons) (KwaZulu-Natal) 

Saziso obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomolecular Technology at then University of Natal in 2001, with majors in Microbiology, Biochemistry and Genetics. In 2002, he completed an Honour’s Degree in Genetics from the University of Natal. He is currently working as a Lab Manager in the Traditional Medicine Laboratory. He is responsible for all the research activities in the lab, including research, teaching and administration. This entails providing comprehensive discipline specific as well as general technical support services for all programmes run by the Traditional Medicine Laboratory.
